For the most part, I think pligs want to get this monkey off their back. I think they are even willing to give up some freedoms for it.

For example: if the State went in and said to the leaders, "We don't want any underage marriages." I'm sure the leaders would comply. But in order to say that, the State must acknowledge the marriages, which they won't do.

These particular cult leaders I'm sure could be convinced to keep a log of marriages that could be reviewed by state representitives. The documentiation would hold a certain, "do not lie to the government clause." Then if a girl gets pregnant and the state finds out, people can be held accountable, because they know who was doing it, or should have been doing it, etc.

But the state will not use the tools that are available, because that would mean they are not trying to stop polygamy its self.

That is why I say, "This is about polygamy, this is about religion." The government knows the serial numbers on my harddrives and auditors often check up on them. I know that the government has the power to regulate this people, but they won't because of the polygamy.
