An interesting thought Confused. Minors typically aren't legally able to enter into contracts except marriage. So while they aren't legally bound to their record club membership, they can be bound to a contract that is supposed to be life-long, and relates to something as profound as one's mate. (I'm damn glad I didn't marry my boyfriend at 18, despite being head over heals at the time.)
Of course, this wouldn't help the girls of CC and others within the FLDS, as their "marriages" aren't recognized under the law. Their best chances lie with the government's enforcement of child protection laws - a pooch that Arizona and Utah have thoroughly screwed.
All the flack about; "why are underage marriages against the law"shows a big disconnect with reality. seems to me all laws were made to fix a problem, and if sombody cant see the problem with little girls getting married before they grow up, then this "somebody" has a problem.

Are you hearing this from outside the FLDS?
mostly from the "innies", but from a surprising number of "outties"as well.

Scary. Sadly, the most recent charges against Warren include statuatory rape of a 12 year old following their "wedding". I cannot imagine how anyone can sanction the marriage of a 12 year old girl to an adult man.

whats scary is that so many people will sanction anything that comes by way of "Authority" with giving it a second thought, and so many others will space it off with the ol; "live and let live" platitude. while I cant do much about what goes on outside my own little world, I can still reserve the right to bitch!
